When One Door Closes. . .

End Of Placement

Callum Thornhill

So, after two weeks of work experience I have reached my penultimate day. I have mixed feelings about departing the colleagues I've been with for the past fortnight.

Firstly, not getting up at 6:56 AM every morning will be delightful. 6:56 you may ask, weird time? Yes, but there is logic; I live by the "I don't believe in odd numbers (even weirder), so 6:55/57/59 are ruled out. 6:54 is too early to get up (every minute counts at that time of morning), 6:58 would be too late, therefore 6:56 is the ideal time - the logic is simple.

Another positive, probably the most positive, is the fact that I think this is the career path that I want to go down. It is literally being on social media all day long and reading articles. I can honestly swear to the lord Paul McShane that I've read more online articles in the past fortnight than I have ever done before. The Independent is now a personal favourite of mine...odd choice.

However, as with everything there are of course negatives. Nothing major here, just little things like running out of tasks or ending up with cramped hands. All round though it has been a great experience.

Next week I will be working at Deer Shed Festival - mingling with the likes of Dan Croll, Honeyblood and Billy Bragg. I'm responsible for the social media at the festival so I get to connect to FREE WiFi as well as charging my phone. Win-win. Free festival ticket and my phone will be sorted. What a time to be alive.
